Inaugural Indigenous Round – Terrace vs Toowoomba Grammar School

The Indigenous Round is part of our commitment to walk in solidarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through acknowledgement of their contribution and stewardship of the land and culture we have today. As a College, we challenge ourselves to live our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) authentically and with enthusiasm.

In 2020, St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace had its RAP ratified by Reconciliation Australia. As part of the greater efforts by Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA), Terrace is focused on the reconciliation and celebration of our history and culture led by and lived by our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

As a Catholic School in the Edmund Rice tradition, and in conjunction with EREA, St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace values, respects and formally acknowledges the unique place and contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the Traditional Owners of our nation’s Land.

Through collaborative and respectful partnerships, the College is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment and to offering a quality and culturally enriching education for all young people.

St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace is committed to furthering reconciliation and valuing the wisdom and experience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by deepening an understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives throughout the curriculum and the cultural life of the College.

In the lead up to National Reconciliation Week (27 May to 3 June), Terrace will be hosting an Indigenous Round as part of the GPS Competitions to be held this Saturday 15 May (Round 4) for Tennis and Football. All teams will participate in an Acknowledgement of Country at the commencement of their matches. During the 1st XI match, we will have a presentation and Welcome to Country by elders of Jagera country on which Tennyson exists, and special celebrations at halftime. We hope to see you there.

Live Jesus in our Hearts…Forever.
