Deputy Principal | Mr Damien Fall

We hosted Open Day on Monday afternoon, and while this is usually an annual event, the pandemic and construction projects in recent years meant we were unable to hold Open Day in 2020 and 2018. No doubt these missed years only add to the interest in the opportunity to spend some time inside the College to view and understand the myriad of opportunities provided at Terrace. We had close to 2000 online registrations before the event, and we certainly hosted a large crowd at what was an outstanding showcase for the College. Parents are understandably keen to know which school is best for their children and are more diligent than ever in weighing up whether a school is the right fit. We enjoy the opportunity to provide families with the opportunity to investigate all we have to offer and to answer enquiries about topics such as our points of difference, how we get the best out of students or how we define success. Not only do we welcome prospective families, but many of our current families also take the rare opportunity to have a close look around. Such events require an enormous amount of planning, time and energy and I want to extend the sincere thanks of the College to those who contributed to the success of the day, namely:

  • The Maintenance staff for their rapid tidying, setup and pack up.
  • Our Communications team for their organisation, advertising, registration and publications.
  • Our enrolments team and their assistants for their efforts before and during the event.
  • Music, Culture and Sport personnel for the entertainment and interactive displays.
  • Our Pastoral team for coordinating tours and student involvement.
  • Teaching staff who helped with academic presentations, displays and warm words.
  • Our Parent Support Groups for their energy and involvement.
  • The staff who set up, staffed displays, tidied up and the myriad of other jobs that took place.
  • All those who came along to enjoy the event and passed on their commendations.

Open Day is a wonderful community event, and we are very pleased to be able to gather such a variety of people on this occasion. If all goes well, we look forward to being able to proceed again next year.

By now, parents and caregivers will have received a link to complete a survey asking for feedback about the recent Parent/Teacher Interviews - accessible here. The College is very keen to gather as much data as possible about these interviews so we might make modifications or improvements. We would be most appreciative if you would take a minute or two to complete the survey, even if you did not attend any interviews this time. Many thanks in anticipation of your assistance with this.
