Public Speaking

We will be holding Public Speaking workshops over the next two weeks.  The response to these workshops has been overwhelming.  If your son is unable to attend, please contact Ms Clarke: BridgetClarke@terrace.qld.edu.au – as we have a waitlist.

We are hopeful Public Speaking competitions will resume shortly.

Middle School Musical – Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

It is feedback such as the below that helps us know our audience enjoyed the production.  The Opening Night standing ovation was also a great indication!

Thank you to the Terrace Family who supported us with three sold-out performances! We could not ask for any more.

I loved it!  Just a total joy to watch. My congratulations to the cast and creatives who made it happen.
What a magnificent closing night. It was the start of my Mother’s Day celebration and what a start it was. To see so much talent from these young men was inspiring.
Well done to the organising team and the performers. What a mind blowing performance by our boys.
You put on a fun and fabulous show. You could tell the boys were enjoying it, and the music, acting and dancing were all wonderful!
The show was awesome!

I had never sung by myself before I auditioned for the Middle School Musical Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. It was my first time being on the stage and in a musical. I was nervous but wanted to give it a go. I never could have dreamed about being given the role of Joseph.
I had hoped that I would meet some new friends and I did. Everyone was really friendly, and the teachers helped me learn what to do.
Before going on stage, I was nervous but excited too. I thought my heart would jump out of my chest but once the music started, I felt ready for the show. It was great to know that by doing all our rehearsals we were ready to perform.
Coming off the stage each night was an amazing feeling – it was like winning a Grand Final!! I would encourage other students to Answer the Call and have a go. You never know you might find out you can sing or meet some new friends and you will have a lot of fun along the way.
A musical I would like to do in the future would be The Greatest Showman – it is a great story and has great songs too - Stirling Mattes (Year 5) – “Joseph

On behalf of our Production team – thank you to the many staff and parents who assisted behind the scenes. A special note of appreciation to Mrs Michelle Williams and Mrs Tanya O’Meally who created and organised our wardrobe (neither of these parents had sons in our production). It would be remiss of me not to acknowledge the costumes created by Tanya over the past decade.  With her third son graduating this year, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is the last musical that will have Tanya’s creations front and centre.  We thank you, Tanya, for your support of our program and the humble way you have slipped into each production, sharing your skills and talents so freely.

All Hallows’ Musical – Freaky Friday

The All Hallows’ musical, Freaky Friday, performed an amazing three shows. The cast rehearsed twice a week from the beginning of Term 1, working hard to make the production as professional and enjoyable as possible. Under the direction of Ms Wall, Ms Patterson, and Ms Pearn, the show came together and was performed in front of a live audience.  Having missed out on performing live due to COVID in 2020, it was a fantastic experience to perform to two sell-out audiences on Friday and Saturday. It was an honour to play one of the lead characters in this performance and to be able to be on stage alongside the rest of the amazing cast.

QDU Debating

QDU Debating enters the final round before the finals.  It has been a successful season so far, which may result in Terrace teams debating against each other.

The Junior QDU competition starts next month for the Years 5-7 students.  Please check your schedules to ensure you attend all training sessions.

Open Day

Thank you to all our musicians who participated in the 2021 Open Day.  This event was held under clear skies and certainly showcased the Cultural side of Terrace well.

Support Group meetings

The next DSG and TPA meetings will be Tuesday 25 May.  Support Group meetings will be held online if necessary.
